Volunteers at work
Should you have been passing through Cathedral Square between the 19th to 28th of February you may have noticed the wonderful floral archway leading up to the doors of the Cathedral. If you had looked again you may have noticed a smiling face or two standing there greeting visitors to the Floral Carpet event which was part of the Festival of Flowers. What you may not have realized was that that smiling face belonged to a volunteer for Home and Family.
For the past three years Home and Family in its association with the Christchurch Garden City Trust have been providing staff for the Floral Carpet event. Wonderful, generous volunteers are responsible for selling tickets in the kiosk, checking that visitors have an entry stamp and meeting and greeting visitors to this wonderful event.
And what a place to work; the flowers were amazing, the smell divine and the musical items a delight. Thousands of visitors both locals and International go through the Cathedral doors and its wonderful to think that their enjoyment and pleasure of viewing the carpet is enhanced by the warm and friendly encounter with a Home and Family volunteer. We are extremely grateful to all these wonderful people who give so generously of their time and enthusiasm.
To make any fundraising events a success and direct much needed funds to helping our clients, we need your support. Please contact us if you would like to be involved.
