Emergency Supported Accommodation Programme

The Home and Family Emergency Supported Accommodation Programme comprises a large family house for women and children and two flats for Dads and kids, Mums with teenagers or small family groups

Every year Home & Family receives between 250-350 phone calls for their emergency supported accommodation, most of which were from single women with children. Some of the reasons given were: No money, homeless, living in car/van/garage/tent, escaping violence, living in unsafe or overcrowded circumstances/conditions, house burned down, no family or friends, and health problems.

For many women this may be the first opportunity they have had to take stock and find the personal space to address issues of concern in their lives. They may be needing support with issues of alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence and social dislocation.

Home & Family are able to offer the opportunity of individual counselling as well as parenting and self development courses to give them skills and information to use for their own and their children’s future. The house is staffed 24/7 by a social work team and accommodates up to five women and their children in a safe and secure environment.
