MALE DANCERS WANTED! #DWTS
Preparations for this year’s Dancing with the Stars Fundraising Challenge are well underway.. The venue has been booked for June 9th and all of the details are starting to fall into place!
Last year’s event was a complete sell-out and with the help of Chrystal Chenery, Dani Robinson (both former Bachelorettes), Jonny Williams and Kristie Boyd (both Dancing with the Stars professionals), just under $30,000 was raised for Home & Family Society. We would love to double that figure this year and we are currently on the hunt for dancers (or should we say ’non dancers’)..
Information for potential dancers:
Home & Family is an independent Christchurch based Incorporated Society that works with children, youth, adults and families facing barriers to positive outcomes in their lives. Home & Family was originally established as the Society for the Protection of Women and Children and has been in operation for over 115 years. This family focused, forward thinking still drives Home & Family today and we now offer residential parenting programmes and a counselling service. All proceeds from our DWTS Fundraising Challenge will go towards supporting Home & Family’s services in Christchurch.
Event: Dancing with the Stars for Home & Family 2016
Date: June 9th, 7pm
Venue: Charles Luney Auditorium, St. Margaret’s College
Goal for 2016: $50,000 raised for Home & Family Society
What we ask of dancers/contestants:
Most importantly, no previous dance experience is required! Home & Family will provide 6 weeks of professional training starting April 30th 2016, with one training sessions per week. Each contestant will be asked to raise $1000 in sponsorship (individual or corporate) and they will be given 20 – 24 tickets to sell to the event.
15 routines will be chosen (each couple dancing only 1):
3 Cha Cha
5 Rock N Roll
7 Hip Hop
9 Dirty Dancing
11 Paso Doble
12 Samba or Salsa
13 Rumba or Mambo
15 Country & Western
From experience we can promise a fantastic night out and the perfect opportunity for a group to get together in support of a brave co-worker, friend, or family member, and a deserving cause!
It really has proved to be a team event for organisations who have work colleagues taking part. Last year, we had representation from Spark, CECC, Taylor Shaw, Stadium Cars, CDHB, CCC to name a few – and this year is no different.. DWTS is a once in a lifetime experience, a challenge not to be forgotten and, of course, a fantastic fundraiser for Home & Family Society Christchurch!
