Activating kindness in the community
Some people want to support a charity, but do not find themselves in a financial position to be able to give a regular monetary donation. At Home & Family, we are grateful for donated items for sale. We also sometimes need second-hand toys for our play therapy rooms, parenting house or reception area and value support with coordinating our swap shop events. Have a read below and if anything you read sounds like something you can help us out with, we would love to hear from you!
We sell a range of clothing items at events and markets.
We accept the following:
- good quality, undamaged clothing
- functioning electrical items and appliances
- unused, packaged soft furnishings (such as sheets and towels)
- unwanted gifts
(unfortunately we are unable to accept used bedding, or clothes that are stained, damaged or unwashed).
The format of a swap-shop event is simple: you make a small donation, bring along some clothes that you no longer wear, and select a few items to take away with you. Hopefully you’ll bring some friends and get to enjoy some drinks, snacks and networking at the same time!
In the lead up to these events, it’s all hands on deck to sort out clothes, send out invites, lay things out nicely and make sure the event runs smoothly. If you have an eye for fashion and like to get stuck in with short-term projects, your input would be greatly valued. Alternatively, if you think you would like to attend one of these events, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll make sure you get to hear about them!
