Making Intergenerational Impacts - Home & Family - Te Whare Manaaki Tangata - Child, Youth and Parenting Support Services

With support from the Rātā Foundation, Home & Family set out to test the intergenerational impacts of our parenting programmes – SafeCare & Brief Intervention

Over the period of June 2023 – July 2024, a Good Measure Report, conducted by Impact Lab, found that children of parents who received parenting support benefited from:

  • Improved academic achievement
  • Improved housing
  • Improved infant safety
  • Improved mental and physical health
  • Reduced family violence and victimisation
  • Reduced risky behaviour and offending
  • Reduced child placement

This equated to over $17,000 in social value over the course of their lifetime! Not only that, for every $1 invested in Home & Family’s parenting programmes, $2.20 of social value was delivered back to the community.
