Supervised Contact - Home & Family - Te Whare Manaaki Tangata - Child, Youth and Parenting Support Services
Home & Family offers home-style Supervised Contact sessions.

These sessions allow family members to reestablish or maintain contact with a family member (usually a parent or caregiver).

Our brand-new, purpose-built children’s centre, ‘Kōmanawa’ (oasis), provides the perfect setting for whānau. With two large rooms available, each space is complete with toys, games, sofa, and accessible toilets. Each room comes with a private, secure outdoor space, complete with a play area, sandpit, and swing. While being warm and inviting, the space allows for constant supervision by the social worker to ensure child safety.

Throughout these sessions, whānau are given professional, structured support from Home and Family’s kaimahi to manage complex relationships safely. This support lays the foundation for families to reconnect, restore connection, and rebuild relationships.

We take self-referrals for this service.

“Supervised contact is about supporting whanau to repair relationships or build connections in a comfortable, safe and protected environment. The session supervisors ensure there is always a positive atmosphere and that focus is on the tamariki (child). The power of play, allows tamariki and visitor to relax, interact and have fun. The best imaginations can wander whilst in the outdoor kitchen or sandpit, and relaxed conversations about our week can happen over colouring in or crafts.”
