The importance of Safe & Together
Home & Family is a host for Safe & Together training, bringing practitioners together to strengthen their response to family violence. Participants have shared that they have been able to apply the tools between training sessions and see immediate benefits in their work with clients.
At Home & Family, we believe all tamariki deserve a safe and positive childhood. The child centred, evidence-based framework aligns with our commitment to strengthen our ability to provide early intervention and prevention support that helps break cycles of harm and creates safer futures for tamariki and whanau.
The training highlights the importance of working alongside survivors, recognising the many ways they already support and protect their tamariki, and building on these strengths to create safer outcomes for whanau. The training also encourages practitioners to engage perpetrators in taking responsibility for their behaviour and its impact on tamariki and whanau functioning.
A member of our team, Nate, is currently training to become a Safe & Together trainer. Reflecting on his decision to undertake the training, he expressed: “I am passionate about the model and wanted to be part of/support Home & Family driving positive change in the family violence sector.”
As we continue implementing and championing the Safe & Together model, we remain committed to strengthening our response to family violence and supporting sector-wide learning. By keeping tamariki at the centre and promoting safety, accountability, and positive change, we can help create safer futures for whanau and Aotearoa communities.
